José Luis Viesca Rivas: Travelling Crystals - Dissidentifications

Travelling Crystals: Dissidentifications is part of a larger photographic series dedicated to exploring the subjective experience of encountering abstract concepts through artistic practices. Drawing from diverse visual theories—in this case queer scholar José Esteban Muñoz’ book Dissidentifications— and triggered by the concept of the camera obscura, the series makes use of pinhole photography as a material thinking platform to ponder on the imbrication of image, gender, and identity formations as acts of resistance and survival.
